Being lesbian or bisexual woman can be a lonely business if everyone you know is straight. But remember that you're not the only gay in the village! There are lots of ways to meet other lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. It's natural to be nervous, but remember that everyone's been in the same situation as you at some point.
Meeting other lesbian and bisexual women is not just about dating. Making friends with other gay and bisexual people can be a really important aspect of being happy as a L/Bi woman. LGBT mates can relate to what you're going through and they can help support you if you're having a tough time with your family or other friends. It's also good to have people to go with to LGBT events and venues, and they might even be able to tell you about L/Bi films, books, magazines or TV shows that you hadn't heard of.
